Prayer is a vital part of life for every Christian. It keeps you in constant connection with God who is our main source for EVERYTHING including answers for issues concerning your children.
For the past three weeks, Nick has dealt with fevers (the worst was 104 degrees!), ear infections (yes, more than one!), an allergic reaction (hives ALL over his little body), and an eczema flare up, which caused my sweet little boy to be fussy, tired, moody, and everything in between. As this was his first battle with sickness, you can imagine my concern! Thank God that everything has calmed down and he’s back to normal – for the most part.
Earlier this week I went to rehearsal and left Nick with his aunties. About an hour into my rehearsal, I received a call saying that Nick is crying non-stop, grabbing at his ear, he won’t eat, and is just all around not feeling well. Naturally, I dropped what I was doing to head in the car home hoping that it wasn’t a sign of another ear infection. As I was walking to the car, I was gently instructed by the Holy Spirit (our ever present help in motherhood!) to pray in my heavenly language from the time I got in the car until I reached home – a total of about maybe 4-5 minutes. I immediately responded and began praying. I was a bit nervous because after all that happened to Nick, I didn’t want him to have to deal with something else related to sickness.
I pulled into our driveway, ready to go inside and grab Nick to comfort him and lo and behold, my son is sitting on his aunt’s lap, smiling, watching Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood. I looked at my sisters like they were crazy (lol) and they said they had no clue what happened but his whole demeanor did a 180 after they called me. He proceeded to walk around and play with his toys and before I headed back to rehearsal, he was eating his dinner.
WOW! WOW! WOW! God is incredible. I am 100% positive that my obedience in prayer caused Nick to not only feel better but deter whatever type of sickness that was trying to take over his body.
I share this story to say, mothers – pray for your children! No matter how old or young they are. No matter how big or small an issue is. Pray without ceasing for your babies. Our prayers CHANGE THINGS in their lives. And though this was a minor incident, it reminded me that I have the power to change the direction of my son’s life and things that effect him all with the power of prayer.
As always, be encouraged! Motherhood is not easy AT ALL but we have the tools that we need to help us raise amazing, powerful, world-changing children.
I love you all!! Until next time!! 🙂
