October is a very interesting month for me. Every year when it rolls around, I experience tons of feelings, these three being the most prominent ones:
- Somber – Five years ago, my cousin (who was the same age as me) passed away from a sudden asthma attack and as it gets closer to the date of her death, I become somber and spend lots of time thinking about her life.
- Reflective – October is Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness Month and as a result, I’m always reminded of the miscarriage I experienced in 2014 and the ectopic pregnancy that almost took my life 1 year ago.
- Grateful – I’m ALIVEEEEE!! Just a few days ago, I was talking to my sister about the ectopic pregnancy and it dawned on me that had I died that day, I wouldn’t be around to see the bubbling and amazing little person that my son is turning into. My eyes immediately welled up with tears. God is so GOOD!
Amidst all of my emotional ups and downs, there is one thing I hold on to, which was the fact that there is always HOPE.
“There is hope, Lord there hope. There is hope, for all there is hope. As long as Jesus is alive, Yes! There is hope” – There is Hope by the Mississippi Children’s Choir
Whether life is serving you lemons or lemonade, plums or prunes, sunny days or dreary rain ridden ones, there is still ALWAYS hope, simply because of the fact that Jesus is alive. Jeremiah 29:11 states “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” which means that regardless of what you’re going through right now, God has already planned for you to have a GOOD FUTURE! There are brighter days coming!
When I’m going through my lower moments, I think about all the times that God led me out of darkness. The times when I experienced blessing after my worst experiences. And I remind myself that if He took me out of it before, then He can and will and WANTS TO do it again.
When you’re in your low moments, what do you do to encourage yourself? I’d love to know!
As always, I hope you’re encouraged and that whenever you’re feeling down, the words of this blog post will ring in your heart.
I love and appreciate you for reading!! :*
