Can I be honest with you all –
I went into 2018 SO cluttered. I didn’t do all the cleaning that I wanted. I was exhausted from a month full of rehearsals and planning for a major Christmas production I was part of. After Christmas, I began catching up to the time lost in December on work due in January AND planning for my Nicholas’ upcoming second birthday party (details on that in a later post!) and when NYE hit – I was tired. BUT I knew that even though I didn’t accomplish my end of the year goals, I had to do one thing and that was – talk to my heavenly Father about 2018.
On 12/30 I began writing a prayer in my journal. I was telling God how I wish I was further along and listed all the things that I wish I did better in the latter part of 2018 and then I heard the Lord so gently and clearly, tell me that I need to RESET.
Reset: to set, adjust, or fix in a new or different way: to reset priorities
I then decided to google scriptures that talk about resetting. I saw a few but was soon distracted and didn’t get to do further research.
Fast forward to my church’s Sunday NYE Service
The preacher spoke on Isaiah 43:18-19 and once I heard it, I distinctly remembered seeing that verse in my google results! It reads:
“Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
19 See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland.”
As the Pastor was preaching I realized that this is what God wanted for my new year. Resetting is the equivalent of doing a NEW thing. And the only way to SEE the new thing that is being done is by letting go of the past. Doing so will sharpen your perception of what God is doing in your life.
WOW. So Simple, but this blew me away and I plan on holding on TIGHT to this word.
Personally, this scripture means that it’s time for me to let go of the little things that I haven’t done right (like de-cluttering my life before 2018 lol) and starting fresh, looking for what God is doing in FAITH knowing that something has already begun. This mindset combined with faith in God’s word, will propel me into a place I’ve never been in 2018 and I’m SO ready for it.
What are some things that you need to let go of in this new year?? I’d love to hear back from you!
Until next time!! :*
