I have been asked countless times, “Celeste, how do you stay so positive?” And my answer is super simple. I try my hardest to remain grateful and control my words at all times regardless of my circumstance.
- When my husband and I both lost our jobs shortly after our 1st year of marriage, I gave God thanks and declared prosperity over my future daily.
- When I experienced a miscarriage in 2013, I thanked God for my fertility (based on the fact that even though I lost a child, I still was able to get pregnant!) and declared that I will get pregnant again and experience a healthy full-term pregnancy.
- In 2016 when I was recovering from surgery after being SO close to losing my life from an ectopic pregnancy, I thanked God that He spared my life and declared that I am living my life on purpose for a God-given purpose.
I’m going to keep it 100% real with you – it wasn’t always easy to remain positive. When pregnancy loss strikes, when you almost lose your life, when your bank account is extremely negative and you know your next check won’t be enough to get you out of the red (yes, it got THAT real), it’s not your first instinct to smile and “be happy”. It’s actually pretty difficult. But, I had to train myself to see the good in every situation. Because, regardless of what you’re going through, there is ALWAYS someone experiencing worse, which is reason enough to be grateful.
In addition to that, consistently dwelling on the “bad” things in life won’t change them! If you’re in a sticky situation or there is an area in your life that you’re not pleased with, thinking about, talking about, and focusing on the negative isn’t going to help. On the contrary, brainstorming ways to change your situation and visioning and speaking what you want it to actually look like ends up fueling you to make a positive change which results in more joy!
During the course of this challenge, feel free to reference this blog post as a reminder of WHY you want to stay away from negativity and intentionally choose gratefulness. In all honesty, you have NOTHING to lose when you choose to be grateful! Being grateful in all situations, speaking LIFE to areas in your life that you’re not too pleased with, and avoiding complaining are keys will TRANSFORM your life if you let it! 🙂
